The MacDiarmid/Campbell History, its Blazon of Arms, Shield, Crest, Tartan and Pipe Music are part of our tradition here at GlenLyon Vineyards & Winery. Suzy McDermaid Fridell was, by birth, born into the Clan of Diarmid O'Duibthne as was Suzy and Squire's daughter, Lexy McDermaid Fridell. Squire, of questionable German and Irish stock, was convinced to join the Clan in 1979 at the Scottish Games in Santa Rosa after drinking a few glasses of good Sonoma Valley wine. Clan membership cost him ten dollars. Planting two vineyards and building a winery cost him much more....

Here at GlenLyon Vineyards and Winery, the History and Tradition of Diarmid O'Duibthne are alive and well. Both our hillside vineyards were planted on Wild Boar rooting grounds where Wild Boar are still occasionally spotted amongst the vines. Even though their bristles are not known to be poisonous, neither Suzy nor Squire is dumb enough to measure the length of a slain Boar with bare feet. (See "The Legend")
