GlenLyon Vineyards & Winery
is also our home. We live on a little over twenty acres in Sonoma
Valley's Historic Valley of the Moon just off Bennett Valley Road
in Glen Ellen. All the grapes that go into our Syrah and Syrah Port
are grown on the property, hand-tended and made into wine on the
estate.
We live on the premises with our closest neighbors: wild boar,
red fox, coyote, hawks, turkey vultures, skunks, raccoons, owls,
quail and deer. The electric fences surrounding the vineyards
keep most of those critters away from the grapes, but the real
challenge are the barn swallows who love to feast on the ripening
clusters and the wild turkeys who fly over the fences just before
harvest to munch on our grapes. Hunters with proper licenses please
apply.
The Ghost of Diarmid O'Duibthne sometimes can be seen walking
amongst the vines at GlenLyon. He's most often spotted, late at
night and in the wee hours of the morn accompanying Dionysos,
Greek God of Wine, Fertility and Theatre.
Unfortunately, because of our local CC&R's and our permit
restrictions, we can have no tours or tasting at GlenLyon. You
can, however, have any of our phenomenal wines shipped directly
to you.
