GlenLyon Winery was first built as a 24 x 36 two-story barn in 1987 by Squire and Suzy after their move to Sonoma Valley. Their original intent (believe it or not) was to store a whole bunch of theatre equipment: lighting instruments, theatre seats, electrical boxes and cables, drapes, props and costumes. (Don’t ask...it’s a long story....)

After the Year-of-the-Theatre-Equipment-Fiasco, that 24 x 36 storage barn was used to make our first “Garage Wine”. Slowly, but surely, over the next decade, that garage-winemaking facility was incrementally converted to a State-Of-The-Art Winery four times its initial size.
From the moment the massive winery doors are opened and the just-harvested grapes are brought in, each piece of spotless equipment serves a purpose. From the bin dumper/sorting tray, to the adjustable-roller destemmer, to the three 971 gallon-open-top fermentation tanks, to the bladder press, to the temperature/humidity controlled barrel room, everything has been customized, designed and built for GlenLyon. (To her chagrin, Suzy’s last Valentine’s Day present was a beautiful sanitizing, stainless steel Ozone Machine...and her last Birthday Gift was a nifty new, humongous Glycol Chiller!)

All our wines are hand-bottled at GlenLyon and the finished cases are stored underground at the Winery to ensure absolute control of conditions.
The bottom line: Grapes absolutely love to be made into wine at GlenLyon!
Unfortunately, because of our local CC&R's and our permit restrictions, we don't have tours or tasting at GlenLyon. If you're a Clan Member, however, you may visit GlenLyon to pick up your allocation of wines. We also ship to most states.
